How to conduct a Reggae tune

$4.99

How to conduct a Reggae:

Tsetse Music demonstrates the structure of a typical reggae tune (as described in our Reggae Instrumentation). For this purpose a simple lullaby will be turned into a reggae tune using typical beats and instruments.

Original song:

Tsetse’s guitar version of Johannes Brahm’s lullaby, played by Chris P. Bacon in romantic picking style.

Drums:

Taco Jimenez adds a heavy bass drum plus snare and  hi hat (1/16)  to make the song percussive.  Later on Ivan Valdez will fill in conga and tom tom.

Rhythm guitar:

Lennox Wilson’s rhythm guitar emphasizes the typical off-beat which makes the reggae sound specific and unmistakable. He uses very short, scratchy strokes (1/32).

Bass:

A heavy bass is essential. Dick Burns supports the off-beat effectively with percussive notes on his humming fretless bass.

Mute guitar:

Another counter beat is created byJeff Wanton on a mute guitar  to fill the “empty” beats with short, pushing muted inserts.

Final tune with sax:

Finally Mr. Huddleston comes in with his swinging altsax. Simon Lazarú blends all these tracks together and optimizes their modulation and dynamics. Finished!
